2021 Cambridge Early Bird Tournament Champions!
The U16 MD Red Jr. Rangers took to the ice this past weekend as they competed in their first tournament of the season...the Cambridge early bird tournament.
Starting off with a Friday afternoon game vs Brantford, the boys came out strong and earned a hard fought 3-1 win.
Next up on Saturday afternoon was our cross-town rival, Waterloo... and with some solid play, the team skated to a 2-0 victory.
Saturday evening saw an intense back and forth game vs Sarnia that ended in a 2-2 draw.
Finishing first in their division, the Jr. Rangers faced off against London in the semi-finals on Sunday morning, and showing incredible discipline and heart, came out with a 4-3 win.
Off to the championship game on Sunday afternoon with a re-match against Brantford, the boys played their best hockey of the tournament...skating out to a commanding 3-0 lead and really controlling the play.
A few power plays for Brantford allowed them to get back in the game...but the Rangers clamped it down and showed an amazing display of team work and skill...to bring home the title.
With some incredible goaltending throughout, solid defensive play, timely scoring, and a compete level that was off the charts, the boys can now call themselves "Champions"!!
Way to go fellas...we are all so proud of you and can't wait to see how you continue to grow and develop as a team...in the weeks / months to come.
