Fallfest 2021
The Kitchener Lady Rangers coaching staff returned to the Annual Fallfest Tournament for the first time in almost ten years.

The ladies started the weekend off on a sluggish note against a quick North Halton team. Handily outshot, the ladies found no flow and lacked any consistent effort or pressure against the Twisters. Strong goaltending on the ladies’ end prevented a complete blow out in game one.

Game two saw the ladies facing the Lakeshore Lightning in a rematch from the Hocktoberfest tournament. The play bored little resemblance to the mornings game with the ladies’ bettering their entire morning shot count in the first period alone. Tied at “zero” after the first, the ladies’ capitalized on a second period “PP” opportunity and ensured their first “W” of the tournament with an insurance marker late in the third.

An early morning game three had the coaches on edge and hoping for a better effort than the last mornings game. Although it took a few shifts to settle in, the ladies played a strong first and certainly continued their good “choices and options” play into the second. Several good chances at both ends and an even shot count had the game at “zero’s” mid-way through the third. A great lane drive back door pass put the ladies up by one and would be the only goal of the game. Some smart final four minutes of play keeping the puck deep and using the boards as our “friend” gave the ladies their second “W” of the tournament.

Game four was a must win for the ladies to advance to the semifinals. A strong first two periods had the ladies outshooting and out chancing North York. A momentary lapse in D-Zone coverage led to the game’s only goal and put the ladies down one with six minutes remaining. Although they had sustained pressure over the last minute and a half, the ladies lost a game that they never should have.

And, such is life. Sometimes you win when you shouldn’t and sometimes you lose when you shouldn’t.

On behalf of James, Ken, Sarah and Tim, we were proud of all your efforts (except for game one) throughout the tournament. Please remember that when you have someone or something down on the ground, you really want to keep them there. Excel at your exams, excel at your job interviews and do not let anything hold you back. Congratulations on three of four well played tournament games!!

Further congratulations to Ms. Parkes, Ms. Carrie, Ms. Lloyd and Ms. MacKay For their tournament MVP award. They were sincerely well-deserved!

The tournaments Truth #4 to #7…..of our 11 Simple Truths for Success On and Off the Ice ….

You never fail until you quit, make excuses or die. (A little morbid I know, but it's true.)

If you want to achieve something, you must write it down.

Plan every day. Success isn't an accident.

Focus on getting 1% better each day. Small improvements add up (think about our November pushup goals!!).

Keep working hard ladies. We remain pleased with all your efforts to date.
