Game 6 Recap
Game #6: Saturday December 10th
Eagles VS Giants

What a Game!!!
Once again the Eagles were short benched, facing the Giants.  With one forward and two defensemen missing, positions had to be reassigned to even out the bench.  Which had #23 Whalen playing defense, which is not his usual position.  However, like a champ he accepted, and came through on the challenge.

The first period quickly set the pace for the evening…which was fast.  Shortly into the period #91 Banton was taken down into the boards.  It may have rattled him but certainly didn’t keep him down.  With 7:33 left on the clock he scored our first goal of the night.  Also during the first period #6 Ruth made two incredible poke checks, that sent a clear message to the Giants.  And #77 Godfrey had a great breakaway that unfortunately just couldn’t make it in the net.

Heading into the second period the board read 1-1.  At 7:33 #23 Whalen took a shot from the blue line and with a bounce off a Giants skate it rocketed into the net.  #77 Godfrey took a pretty hard hit into the boards, but shook it off.

The third period started with the score tied at 2.  There were plenty of impressive moves going down in the third period.  #6 Ruth gave a throw-back to 80’s breakdancing, doing the worm across the ice, causing interference with his stick.  #9 Hancock, while pinched in the corner, showed off some mad yoga skills, pulling out the Eagle Pose.  While fighting at the boards with two giants, #4 Price managed to get the puck loose and make a back hand pass to the center of the ice.  #23 Whalen took another great slap shot from the blue line, but just missed the mark.  But maybe the most impressive moves were from #31 Massecar; saving 25 of the 31 shots on net!!!  The third period proved to catch up with the Eagles, as they ran out of steam and just couldn’t hold off the Giants.

Final Score: 6-2 Giants

Later in the locker room #31 Massecar and #23 Whalen were both awarded the Player of the Game Pylon.  #31 Massecar for playing a phenomenal game, making save after save.  And #23 Whalen for stepping into a new position and giving 100%, not to mention topping it off with a goal.
