Thank You
Hello,

We would like to thank everyone who came out to camp this past week. I know there are waves of emotions that come with this process for players parents and coaches. At the end of the day, hockey does not define us. It is just something we do. Inspiring one another, encouraging perseverance, celebrating adversity and finding peace in our circumstances are all key life lessons which can be taught through sport.

When we start identifying ourselves as "hockey players" we then set ourselves up for an emotional roller coster when we do not accomplish a hockey goal. And do not get me wrong, it is important that we put ourselves out there and shoot for the stars and never fear failure because then how would we know what we are truly capable of? But I encourage parents and players, do not fall into the trap of the level of hockey you play being some sort of indicator of worth. Truth be told, many players currently playing aaa at various centers may never play a game of junior. Players playing lower levels may very well go on to make a living playing the sport.
Maximize your own potential.
Do not waste a day.
If hockey is something you want to pursue for the time being, go the extra mile. Do not just expect that showing up to practice is enough to differentiate yourself from the 1000's of other players looking to accomplish the same goal. If we behave with this sort of discipline and mentality, there is still no guarantee you will make it to the highest levels of the game, but you will surely learn to be a beast in other areas of life such as schooling, work, family life, etc...As my good friend Ben Fanelli says, use the sport to grow in life and do not let it use you.
Learn from experience and do not make the same mistakes repeatedly. Most importantly, get uncomfortable daily. Sacrifice temporary pleasure for long term development. This is the only way to realize our true potential as athletes and as people.

God Bless and have a wonderful spring and summer.

Sincerely,

Vinny
