After a strong start to “2023”, the ladies
faced another strong opponent in the Cambridge Roadrunners.
Coming off a big win against a strong
Waterloo Ravens team, the Lady Rangers jumped right back into the fire with a quick
skating, strong passing Cambridge Roadrunners. A slow start had the Lady’s down
by one in the opening minutes of play. Stronger play as the period progressed
had the Lady’s rewarded with a beautiful “using the D as a screen” goal,
evening things at “one”. Continued good play in the second saw several opportunities. A great anticipation “pass pick-off” read afforded a breakaway
deke opportunity and had the Lady’s up by one in the second. Some undisciplined
defensive zone coverage (read running around) late in the period had the game
tied at “two” heading into the break. With just over five minutes left in the
third, the Roadrunners sealed the “W” on a “one in a million” shot.
For the second game in a row, you
executed many good choices and options. The pace of play, hard work and continued
good puck movement lead to many great scoring opportunities. It was a heck of a
game watch, coach and play in. Don’t change a thing!
