KMHA and Partners announce Tri-Cities Hockey League
The Spirit of Hockey Unifying Three Cities!

With this season’s whistles silent and skates out for sharpening the boards of Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo Minor Hockey Associations have been busy at work creating The Tri Cities Hockey League (TCHL). The Tri Cities Hockey League (TCHL) was born of a shared vision to create a hockey league that not only showcases remarkable skill and competition between the three cities, but also fosters unity and regional pride. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen the bond between our neighboring centres, transcend boundaries, and create a sense of community that extends beyond the ice rink.

This collaboration marks a remarkable moment in the hockey history of our Region – bringing together the collective strength of 3 Associations to form a fun, competitive experience for all Recreational League players. Participants will experience some travel, as their representative counterparts do; however, it will be limited between Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo. Practices, where applicable, will continue to be scheduled at the respective home rinks and families will recognize game days and times, as they will be similar to past seasons.

Kitchener Minor Hockey President Greg Blundell says "Congratulations to the committee that worked so hard to put the recreational hockey program front and centre. This foundational change will help spur growth in our great game across the region while improving the playing experience for all players. Using the Kitchener Girls Local League  as a framework this partnership brings more parity between Alliance (male) and OWHA (female) recreational hockey across the region and allows our Jr and Lady Rangers to share in similar experiences. We hope everyone has a great Hockey season and for new players wishing to join they can register shortly at www.kitchenerminorhockey.com."

R6R63261.jpgAlliance Hockey  (all 3 associations governing body) is extremely excited about this new opportunity for Recreational Hockey in Region 2.   It has been amazing to see the collaboration that all three associations have put in.  We look forward to continuing to work together to continuously improve Recreational Hockey in a way that is not only fun and exciting, but also helping to build inclusivity and grow the game!

This new venture will work by having all of the recreational hockey teams in Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo play in a loop together. You will still register with your own association but you will have the chance to play a wider variety of opponents. The first half of the season will allow teams to play as many teams as possible and then in the second half they will split and play in pools with teams as similar in skills as possible.

If you are already a House League player, we look forward to seeing you in the new format. If you have stepped away from house league hockey, we welcome you back to share in this great new opportunity. If you are new to hockey, there is still a place for you on one of these exciting teams. By joining together, all three associations will have enough capacity to tier each division into smaller groupings part way through the season. These groupings will allow teams to play games against opponents closer to their own skill level, so everyone has a best-in-class experience. Together, let’s embark on a journey that will create lasting memories for all involved!
