Round Three
The third round of the LLFHL 2012- 2013 season was completed with an amazing high and an incredible low. Saving the “best for last” was just not enough.

After two “three game series” with the Windsor Wildcats and London Devilettes, the Kitchener Lady Rangers Bantam AA team opened up the final round of the LLFHL Playoffs against the Bluewater Hawks. Although out shooting the Hawks in the first two games, the Lady Rangers found themselves in a “must win” game 3 just to have the chance to force an overtime tie breaker.

As we have all read before, “it was the best of times, it was the worst of times”. The ladies drove the bus from the first minute until the forty second minute, generated many great opportunities and earned a well deserved regulation time win. The five minute overtime was played with the same heart and determination and with just over two minutes left it appeared the ladies had secured the overtime “win”. Although signaled a goal by the referee, a linesmen in better position called the goal off.

While the Lady’s generated opportunity and drove the bus, a third straight shoot-out round was needed to determine the West Division Champion. Unfortunately, there was to be no shootout “three-peat”.

Amber, Bill, Tim and I are proud of all your efforts and were especially pleased with your level of play in this final game. It is that work ethic, drive and execution of our systems of play that will be needed to continue your success in Ottawa. Congratulations to all on a great playoff run.

On behalf of all the Lady Rangers and Staff, congratulations to coach Fife and all the Bluewater Hawks on your Divisional win. We wish you the best of luck in the LLFHL final four weekend!
