Jr. Rangers Advance to Alliance Finals

Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AAA team earned their way to the Alliance Championship
with a very hard fought semi-final series victory against Chatham. The 6 point semi-final series was a battle in
every game with the series being decided in the final game in triple
overtime. Harlen Vanwynsberghe was the
hero for the Jr. Rangers scoring the winner at 9:13 of period 6. The entire Jr. Rangers squad put together a
solid work ethic in the win.
Kitchener does not get much time to enjoy the victory as they meet their cross town rivals Waterloo in the Alliance finals starting Friday. The 6 point (3 out of 5) Alliance Championship schedule is as follows:
Friday February 28 at Waterloo RIM 8:00 pm
Saturday March 1 at Kitchener Activa 1:00 pm
Sunday March 2 at Waterloo RIM 1:00 pm
Wednesday March 5 at Kitchener Activa 8:00 pm * (if necessary)
Saturday March 8 at Waterloo RIM 2:00 pm * (if necessary)
Sunday March 9 at Kitchener Activa 4:00 pm * (if necessary)
Both teams qualify for the OHL Cup Provincial Championship which showcases the top 18 Ontario teams and 2 USA teams March 11-16 in Toronto.
The Jr. Rangers and Waterloo met 4 times during the regular season with each team winning both games at home. Waterloo finished 1st overall in the Alliance with Kitchener finishing 5th overall.
The Jr. Rangers have earned their way to the finals eliminating Hamilton Huskies, Lambton Jr. Sting and Chatham-Kent Cyclones.
The Wolves had a 1st round bye in the playoffs and beat Elgin Middlesex Chiefs and Brantford 99ers to advance to the finals.
