The Beginning
We were back in action after our Christmas break and the boys were looking forward to playing again after some much needed time off. We had a few practices over the break to prepare for what we thought would be a pivotal weekend........

On Saturday our first game was against an up and coming Cambridge Hawks team that was undefeated in their last 5 games. The pace of the game was quick and our boys looked a little rusty from the time off. We forgot how to play positional hockey and Cambridge made us pay by scoring some key goals. We went down 5-4 late in the third period but the boys battled to to salvage the tie 5-5. It was not our best outing but we will take it. Credit due to N. Okeefe for getting the Sheriff for his play during this game.

On Sunday we made our way to Hamilton amid a winter storm to play the second place Hamilton Spitfires. Our boys seemed fired up prior to game time. The coaching staff had challenged a few boys on the team to be better after the Cambridge game and the boys delivered. It started off once again with a quick pace but we were not to be beaten. We were better positionally and won our battles. We had a great second period and went on top 5-2. In the third period coach Stasso took a clearing attempt by B House in the head which stunned him temporarily. Thankfully he was not cut on the play but is very sore and will be for a while. The boys continued to rally for each other and the Hamilton Spitfires had little answer for us as we won the game 7-3. It was decided that J Todd and T Frasor would get the Sheriff for their efforts in this game.

We knew going into this weekend with back to back games against 2 top teams we would be tested but we took 3 out of 4 possible points. The undefeated streak stays alive at a staggering 17 straight games. We are so proud of this group of boys as they never quit and seem to rise to every challenge. Great work boys and lets get these next three games.
