The Minor Peewee Jr Ranger's won the Bell Capital Cup in a thrilling double overtime 3 on 3 victory in Ottawa on New Years Eve.
Congratulations to the Minor Peewee AAA Jr Rangers for a well earned Championship over the Gloucester Rangers. After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, the Jr Rangers perservered and started to turn the tide in the second. Still down 2-1 late in the 3rd, the Jr Rangers tied the game in the final minute of regulation with the goalie out. After killing off an overtime penalty, the Jr Rangers scored in the second overtime period playing 3 on 3.
It was an extraordinary experience for the players and the group of 50+ parents, siblings and grandparents that made the long trip to Ottawa for 5 days to support the team amongst the busy Christmas holiday schedule. The game was also followed intensely by many friends and family back home in Kitchener by live stream online while their New Years Party's got underway. The final was played on the home ice of the Ottawa Senators, the Canadian Tire Centre, which will be a special memory for everyone that experienced it live or online.
The Jr Ranger's stayed in downtown Ottawa & enjoyed the beauty and history of the nation's capital between trips to Kanata each day for tournament games.
