Jr.Rangers Visit "The Windy City
As part of our exciting Kraut year, the Kitchener Jr.Rangers Major Atom AAA hockey team traveled to Chicago in November to participate in the Bauer World Hockey Invitational Tournament.

With 48 teams participating in the 05 Division between AAA and Elite (Kitchener), many of the top teams from across the US and Canada were on hand to do battle. In round robin play, Kitchener began the tournament with a strong win over Belle Tire (6-1) before losing a heartbreaker 2-1 to the Long Island Gulls, the second ranked team in the US and eventual tourney champs.  Next up were the Mid-Fairfield Jr.Rangers coached by NHL standout Martin St.Louis!  It was a tight back and forth affair but Mid-Fairfield prevailed by a score of 3-2.  Advancing to the round of the Sweet Sixteen the Jr. Rangers faced the highly ranked Honeybaked from Missouri who had gone undefeated in the round robin.  After giving up a quick goal, the Jr.Rangers shut the door and were unrelenting for the rest of the contest winning by a score of 4-1.  The quarterfinals were only a two period format and despite taking an early lead the Rangers bowed out of the tournament with a 3-1 loss to Halton.  Overall it was an exciting opportunity for families and players to continue to spend time together and have fun while seeing their Jr.Rangers more than hold their own against some of the toughest competition to be found.
