These teams met each other 4 times this season (3 league and 1 tournament) with each game evenly matched and fast paced.
They first met at the Alliance showcase in September where Windsor used their speed and structure in handing Kitchener their first loss of the season 3-0. Special teams proved to be the difference in this game where Windsor went 1 / 2 on the power play and added a shorthanded goal. The Jr. Rangers went 0/4 on the power play. Shots on goal were 39-21 Kitchener.
They met for the 2nd time in November where they faced off against each other in the quarter finals of the Brantford tournament. Both teams were short bodies and playing their 6th game in 3 days. Kitchener came out ahead 3-2 outshooting Windsor 27-13. Both teams were scores on the power play going 0/3.
Windsor had redemption on their minds a week later when they travelled to Kitchener to take on the Jr. Rangers at Activa. It was a fast paced game in which both teams’ penalty killing units were outstanding. Kitchener was 0/5 on the power play while Windsor was 0/4. Kitchener outshot Windsor 35-12 winning 3-1.
Their final meeting was Kitchener’s last game of the regular season when Kitchener travelled to Windsor mid-January. Kitchener needed a victory to maintain their spot in the standings as other teams had games in hand. This tight game was a back and forth for 2 periods before Kitchener used a strong 3rd period to score 4 goals and win the game 7-3. Kitchener was 1 / 2 on the power play while Windsor was 2/5. Kitchener outshot Windsor 44-26.
This should be a great series between two evenly matched teams so come out and support your Kitchener Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AAA hockey program.
