The Objective with our 3on3 Tournament is to provide exciting, and fun-filled, hockey for all participants, teams, and fans. The Kitchener Minor Hockey Association firmly believes that all players, coaches, and team officials have the right to participate and compete in a tournament free of harassment.  Therefore, the Tournament operating committee will not tolerate any abusive or unsportsmanlike behaviour directed at any individual involved in the Tournament. It is the responsibility of each Coach and Coaching Staff to ensure that all team members always behave in a respectful manner while at the Tournament.  Parents and fans will also be held to a high standard and shall be required to act in a Sportsmanlike and respectful manner.

 

We Thank you all for taking part in our very first 3on3 tournament.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Tournament Age categories are U7 (2018), U8 (2017), U9 (2016), U10 (2015), and U11 (2014)

 

The term “Group” or “Pool” can be interchanged and shall have the same meaning in this tournament.

 

Hockey Canada and Alliance Hockey Official Rules will be in effect for all Tournament games, unless modified by these official rules. See also local tournament rule(s) herein.

All Coaches and team staff are encouraged to review Hockey Canada and Alliance Hockey Official Rules prior to the start of the Tournament.

Each member of the participating teams must be registered with Hockey Canada.

 

Each team must provide a contact person and a cell phone number to be contacted by Tournament officials during the Tournament. 

The Tournament office at our facility will post team Dressing room assignments.  Teams are only allocated dressing rooms up to to 30 minutes before your game and may only have the room for 15 minutes after. 

**All team coaches and managers must sign Game sheets before each game. 

Dressing rooms must be free of any refuse by placing it in the containers provided. Teams will be responsible for any damages or littering to Dressing rooms and any other Arena facilities.

 

ARENAS:

All teams will play at the The Activa Sportsplex - Twin pad

 

RULES AND FORMAT:

The tournament schedule and scores will be posted on the website at www.kitchenerminorhockey.com

 

- All teams are scheduled to play (4) 25-minute games Total (including Finals).

- Each team must have a Hockey Canada Qualified coach and all players must wear full protective hockey equipment. Teams consists of 6 to 9 players as well as 1 goalie.

-  A team can have a maximum of three players plus one goalie on the ice at any time.

- All teams must be prepared to start their games up to (15) minutes prior to the scheduled start time.

- Two (2) points will be awarded for each WIN and (1) one point for each TIE in the Preliminary Round. There will be No Overtime played in any game. Tie will be settled by Shoot Out.

- All Tournament games will be one (1) 25-minute period of Run-Time hockey

Faceoffs: There will only be one faceoff at the beginning of the game. After the puck is dropped, the timer will stay running for the duration of the game. Restarts after goals will happen by the scoring team crossing to their half of centre until the scored upon team crosses its own Blueline.

- Teams are not allowed on the ice surface until the Zamboni doors are closed and a coach is present and on ice Officials are present (no exceptions).

- The playing area is the two end zones for full ice, and up to the red line, with a barrier in the middle for half ice.

- Penalties: Minor penalties are resolved with a penalty shot. Major penalties, fighting, or game misconduct can result in disqualification from the tournament. Penalty shots will be held at the end of the game.

Any player/goalie having been assessed three (3) minor penalties in the same game will be automatically ejected from that game.

Two (2) body checking penalties in the same game will result in the immediate ejection from that game

- No body checking: Body checking is not permitted at any age group. Incidental contact while establishing position, taking away the lane, or battling for possession is acceptable within reason. Referee judgment will prevail.

- Scoring: No one player may score more than three (3) goals.  Upon the fourth & subsequent goals, the goal will not be allowed, and the player will be assessed a penalty (see Minor Penalties). Players scoring 3 goals may score again should all players on the team have scored 3 goals. This rule is designed to balance games for all skill levels playing.  If a player continues to score intentionally after scoring 3 goals but before everyone has 3, they will be asked to leave the game by the official(s).

If one team is winning by 3 goals or more in the game, they must circle their own goalie’s net when starting their shift until the game is tied.

 

-  Suspensions: All Hockey Canada Suspensions apply and will carry over to other Hockey Canada Programs

 

APPROVED NECK PROTECTORS ARE MANDATORY for all players participating in this Tournament. (exemptions as made by Hockey Canada with appropriate paperwork considering home jurisdiction rules).

 

Mouth GUARDS THOUGH OPTIONAL, ALLIANCE HOCKEY STRONGLY RECOMMENDS ALL PLAYERS “WEAR” A Mouth Guard.
