JASON CRIPPS MEMORIAL HOUSE LEAGUE TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

GENERAL

1.  Upon completion of Round Robin play, teams will advance as per schedule.

2.  There will be no overtime in any game except the semi-final and championship games. See Overtime Rules section for details.

3.  Standard Alliance, OWHA and KMHA rules apply regarding suspensions. If a player is assessed a 5-minute major for fighting, that player will be suspended for the rest of the tournament (unless the other player was assessed an instigator\aggressor penalty).

4.  Teams will be awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and zero (0) points for a loss. A team will forfeit if they do not have enough players at the scheduled start time as per OWHA or KMHA rules. The score of the game will be 1-0.

5.  In the event that a game cannot be started on-time due to any issue (i.e. power outage, ice surface issues, etc.), the Tournament Director at their sole discretion may elect to either delay the start time and play the game in its entirety or shorten the allotted game. If the game must be cancelled it will be declared a 1-1 tie.

6.  Games with a 5-goal differential will play the third period as run time until this differential is less than 5 goals. This includes semi-finals and finals.

7.  Games can begin up to 15 minutes before their scheduled start time, at the discretion of the Convenor. Please ensure your team is ready.

8.  Home teams wear dark jerseys.

SCORING NOTES

1.  U6-U9 Divisions – Scores are not kept or posted during games.

2.  Alliance Divisions - All goals scored will count in factoring final standings for determining teams that advance for all divisions above U9.

3.  OWHA Divisions - there will be a 5-goal differential. For example, a 10 – 1 score in the round robin will become a 6 – 1 score. This adjusted score will be used when calculating the percentage for tie breaking.

Gamesheets are required for ALL games.

1.  Alliance U6-U9 divisions will use paper (or modified paper) gamesheets.

PLAYOFF ROUND TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURES

1.  If two teams are tied, then the result of the round robin game involving the two tied teams will apply. The winner of the round robin game between those teams will advance. If teams played more than one game the team achieving the most points for wins and ties will advance (not goals).

2.  If two or more teams are tied at the end of the round robin.

a.  The team with the best goal average would qualify.  The goal average of a team is determined by adding the goals for and against together and dividing that total into the goals for, with the team having the highest percentage winning the higher position.

Example: for – 10 goals for – 4 goals against, percentage 10/ (10 +4) = 0.714

b.  If the teams are still tied, then the team with the most wins would qualify.

c.  If the teams are still tied, then the team to qualify would be the one that scored the first goal in the game between the two teams (applies if only two teams are tied).

d.  If the teams are still tied the team that gave up the least number of goals would qualify.

e.  If the teams are still tied, then the team to qualify would be the team that received the least penalty minutes throughout the round robin.

f.  If the teams are still tied after all the previous methods have been applied, then the winner of the playoff spot will be determined by a single toss of a coin.

1.  There will be NO time outs in any round robin or semi-final games.
2.  There will be ONE (1) 30 second time out allowed in the final Championship game.

Simultaneous

Sudden Victory

Players from previous rounds must wait till everyone has shot before they can shoot.

Shoot Out will be simultaneous. Both players start at center ice, and on the ref’s whistle, shoot on opposing goalie. This is a sudden victory shoot out – first to outscore opponent wins.

Shoot out and overtime list provided to referee/timekeeper prior to start of game.

Once everyone on your bench has either played in the OT or the shootout may you go back to reuse a player.

THE OVERTIME SHEET WHICH MUST BE FILLED OUT AND SUBMITTED PRIOR TO SEMI FINAL AND FINAL GAME WILL BE PROVIDED AT THE TOURNAMENT OFFICE OR SENT TO COACHES IN AN EMAIL.

THERE ARE NO LINE CHANGES PERMITTED IN OVERTIME. IF THERE IS AN INUJRY, TEAM MAY SUBSITUTE WITH ANY PLAYER WHO IS NOT PLAYING ANY OF THE FIRST 3 ROUNDS OF OVERTIME.

If there is a penalty in any Overtime Round, a penalty shot is awarded to the non-offending. For any minor penalty, one (1) penalty shot will be awarded to the non-offending team.

Any player on the ice at the time of the infraction may take the penalty shot.

In the event of coincidental or offsetting penalties in the same stoppage in play, penalty shots will be taken simultaneously. If there is no winner after the awarded penalty shots, play will continue.

Any penalized player during the overtime rounds is required to go to the penalty box and is no longer eligible for any further overtime rounds or shoot outs. The player will be substituted from the bottom of the shoot-out list. The replacing player will be removed from the shoot-out round.  The exception is the goalie.  If the goalie gets an infraction, a player from the ice will need to serve the penalty and will no longer be eligible for overtime and shoot out.

Any player with time remaining on a penalty at the end of regulation will remain in the penalty box for the entirety of the overtime/shootout and will be ineligible to participate.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS!!
