Kitchener Alumni Cole Schwindt drafted to the NHL
Submitted By KMHA on Wednesday, June 26, 2019
On Saturday, June 22nd, the dream of so many young hockey players came true for Cole Schwindt.  As the NHL GMs and their staff strategized, negotiated and determined who would be their next draft pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, Florida Panthers selected Cole as the 81st overall pick in the 3rd round.

What an exciting moment for Cole and his family.  A day they will always remember.

Cole played his entire minor hockey career as a Kitchener Jr Rangers.   In his Minor Midget AAA year, while guided and coached by Dean DeSilva, scouts took note of Cole and he was on their radar.

At the 2017 OHL Draft, he was drafted to the Mississauga Steelheads Hockey Club. This past season with the Steelheads, Cole had 49 points in 68 games - an integral part of the team’s success.

Cole has demonstrated that with determination, perseverance and hardwork, anything is possible.  He humbly acknowledges his parents and Coach DeSilva and James Richmond, GM & Coach of the Steelheads for their support on his journey.

Congratulations Cole!  KMHA wishes all the best for you in the next chapter of your hockey career and look forward to seeing you on Hockey Night in Canada.
