The passing of Al Scheklesky
Submitted By Rolland Cyr on Friday, February 7, 2020
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we must inform you of the passing of current Coach and trainer Al Scheklesky.  On Saturday Feb 1st Al was assisting with the Major Midget AAA Jr Rangers, while in Windsor, when he unexpectedly collapsed before the game. The Community staff and Hockey people on site did their best and were able to resuscitate Al and get him transported by ambulance to the Windsor Hospital. Al has spent the week in Windsor Hospital with doctors trying to determine what happened and how they could help Al.  On  Thursday Feb 6th at 11pm Al passed peacefully.

Celebration of life details added to article.

At the request of his close family and friends we have waited to communicate any information to give them time to say their personal good byes as well as to determine their next steps. In his death as in his life Al will help people. Al’s family have chosen to donate Al’s organs to help 2 other people extend their lives.

We know and understand this news will be difficult for many as coach/trainer Al made a lasting impression on all of the players and volunteers in KMHA that he worked with.

CTV Kitchener aired a piece about Al and his volunteering with Minor Hockey - click here to watch
