Hockey Canada Announces "Hockey Activities Suspended"

URGENT!!!  KMHA would like to make everyone aware of the following Announcements from Alliance Hockey and the OWHA. KMHA supports these actions and the safety of all of our participants.

Alliance Hockey Membership

The health and safety of our players, team officials, on-ice officials, volunteers, and administrators are always our priority and are at the forefront of all our decision-making.

In consultation with Hockey Canada and the Ontario Hockey Federation, all ALLIANCE Hockey operations will cease as of Friday, March 13, 2020.

Like you, we have so many questions.  As we continue to navigate this unprecedented circumstance, we are approaching the situation with steadfastness to ensure that all facets are reviewed so that we can provide relevant updates as they become available.  We will provide updates and further information as soon as they become available.  Your continued support, patience and understanding is appreciated.  Stay safe and take care of each other.

OWHA Statement

To: OWHA Member Teams, Presidents, Voters, Contacts, Statisticians, Leagues, Tournament Convenors and Officials
 
Please circulate this bulletin as widely as possible
 
Hockey Canada, as a result of Covid-19, and in support of player and participant safety has cancelled all Hockey Canada sanctioned activities, including National Championships until further notice, effective Friday, March 13, 2020.
 
All OWHA games, practices, tryouts and sanctioned activities have been cancelled until further notice effective 12:01am on Friday March 13, 2020.
 
The 2020 OWHA provincial championships have been cancelled.
 
League playoffs have been cancelled.
 
OWHA Sanctioned Tournaments have been cancelled.
 
Exhibition games and practices have been cancelled.
 
Tryouts are not to take place until such time as approval is posted on the OWHA web site. 
 
The OWHA appreciates the magnitude of this situation and sincerely thanks the many stakeholders for their support as we all work through the logistics of this cancellation. We encourage everyone to keep themselves informed of information available through the various health departments as the medical community works diligently to manage the Coronavirus. We thank you for your attention to this bulletin and sincerely wish you well.

The Kitchener Minor Hockey Board of Directors and its staff are actively working towards notifying all of our participants as well as enacting plans with our partners the City of Kitchener, the OWHA, and Alliance Hockey as to what next steps will be. We will notify all KMHA members when we are ready with the next steps.
