Police Check Information (Kitchener Minor Hockey)

PrintPolice Check Information

Deadline dates for submitting Police Record Checks.

Forms for Police Checks can be obtained at the Kitchener Minor Hockey

Since the program's inception coaching staffs and volunteers have been required to submit Police Record checks to KMHA and the Harassment and Abuse Committee. Each year at the end of the season we learn that a number of Police Record Checks have not been submitted from Coaching staffs and volunteers involved in our organization.

In 2004, the Board of Directors agreed to have all coaching staffs and volunteers submit updated Police Record Checks. At that time, (2004), it was agreed upon by the Board of Directors to renew the Police Record Checks after four (4) years. With this in mind our current Police Record Checks must be updated before the conclusion of the 2013-2014 hockey season, by all coaching staffs and volunteers who had a submitted a police check in 2009-2010 season.

To minimize and hopefully eliminate problems in receiving the Police Record Checks and updating our data base in the future, the following deadline dates for the individual divisions of KMHA commencing June 2013 for all Police Record Checks submitted in the year 2013-2014 season.

Representative Hockey divisions, Boys and Girls:

Deadline Date: July 15 each year.

M.D Divisions:

Deadline date: August 15 each year.

House League Divisions, Boys and Girls:

Deadline date: November 15 each year.

These dates represent the opportunity to have all Police Record Checks compiled and registered in the Harassment and Abuse committee data base.

Coaching staff members and volunteers who do not submit a Police Record Check by the respective deadline date for each division(s) will not be allowed to participate in any and all K.M.H.A represented functions until doing so.

Inform all parties who wish to file a Harassment and Abuse complaint it must be a written formal complaint dated and signed by the complainant(s) and directed to the Liaison of the Board of Directors, executive  and the Harassment and Abuse Committee.

The Harassment and Abuse Committee and the Liaison position was established in 2001 to protect all Board members, Executive members and staff from allegations in a potential Harassment and Abuse situation of cover-up, favoritism or collusion in such situations as well as the name of the organization we represent.
