U10 Hurricanes Storm Through Oakridge
The U10 Hurricanes stormed into London to win gold at the Oakridge Aeros Tournament. A hard fought weekend was capped off with lots of hotel fun and a great comeback in the semi finals.

The round robin games landed the Hurricanes in the second overall seed and set up a match with the Soo Reapers in the semi finals. The Hurricanes found themselves down 4-2 with under 3 minutes to play. The Hurricanes scored with the goalie pulled to make the score 4-3. The pressure was put on again with the goalie pulled to score with 25 seconds left to tie the game. On the ensuing faceoff the Hurricanes storm surge continued, scoring the go ahead goal with 6 seconds left and avoiding overtime. The semi final win set up a date with the Soo Steeldogs in the final, who beat the Hurricanes in the round robin with a tight 2-1 game. The Weather Network issued and urgent warning:

🚨 SEVERE WEATHER ALERT | London, ON 🚨
Hurricanes Rip Through Steel Dogs 2–1
A powerful Hurricane tore through the Steel Dogs Sunday afternoon, leaving damage across all three periods and escaping town with a 2–1 result.
From the opening faceoff, warning signs were everywhere. Pressure systems built quickly in the Steel Dogs’ zone as the Hurricanes generated sustained winds of offensive attack. The first impact was immediate in the first period when a clean strike from the slot made landfall, giving Kitchener a 1–0 lead.
The Steel Dogs briefly stabilized conditions in the third period, tying the game 1–1 after a net-front scramble. But meteorologists inside the arena could see it coming — the storm was intensifying.
By the third period, gusts reached full force. Kitchener’s forecheck battered the defensive structure of Sault Ste. Marie, and with just over a minute remaining, the Hurricanes delivered the decisive blow: a rocket that tore through traffic and into the back of the net.
Despite a late evacuation of their crease — pulling the goaltender for an extra attacker — the Steel Dogs could not withstand the final surge. The Hurricanes’ defensive wall held firm as the clock expired.
When the storm cleared, the damage was done.
Final Impact Report:
Hurricanes – 2
Steel Dogs – 1
Cleanup begins immediately for Sault Ste. Marie, while the Hurricanes continue tracking toward their next target.
