Greys Vs. Colts March 3, 2013
With the exception of the incredible Mr. Kovrig the team was complete this Sunday, but it was a strange one for sure.  KK Kovrig - the Knock out Kid was missing due to a three game suspension he received for swatting flies away from an opponents face mask, apparently he had bad breath!

The Game started with the the "BIG SMOKE" in front of the pipes, Stokes and Smith still in the dressing room, and five players out, the coach could not remember who they were.  Apparently he was out the night before and was in a state of shock for most of the game.  Thank goodness Hardy was there to run the bench.

The game started off slow but steady with end to end action a few shots and lots of good saves.  With no score through most of the first the Colts draw first blood with 3 min to go, Alex Levesque goes coast to coast for the first of three goals that night.  However not to be out done, and short handed, big Danny Luft creates a turn-over, drives to the net for a short handed goal, keeping the game tied at the end of the first.

The game after that was a little unusual, with the Greys giving up the next two goals making the score 3 to 1, and some of the Greys were looking a little..., well, grey.  However with 4 mins left in the second, Wyatt "no elbow pads" Stokes or "NEP" for short (some guys calling him NIP but we wont go into that) (the dressing rm is cold), sorry ahem got a little off track.  NIP scores with 4 mins to go on a nice goal, who knew he could shoot? the 2nd ends in a 3 to 2 lead for the Colts.

Now I did mention that this game was a little wonky after the first right?, lets just sum up some of that wonkyness, Hardy gets the boot for dusting off his shin pads, all right it was another player he dusted, but have you seen how tall he is? Then Nintendo DS, Drake Smith, decides that since he can't seem to hit the net, he would hit everything else he could find, he even got two penalties in one shift - so Nintendo is out for playing Super Mario as that was his third penalty, Hardy is gone, Bean is not himself, and the team that was looking good, now looks a little thin on the bench.  Then Hobie "the Cat" Randall gets about 15 whacks at an open net and hits the goalie at least 17 times, Caleb Mennil (dont know if it is two N's or two L's) missed an open net, Oh, and "Down Low" Danny Luft deked himself out faster than he could the Colts Goalie, leaving both confused on more than one occasion.   Then Nick "the Truck" Vann, or is that VanTruck, decides he is going to get into the action, plows through both teams, knocking Grey and Colt aside with abandon, but ultimately fails to hit the net, and the laughs go on.

3rd period: The Colts #11 gets his third and it is 4 to 2, But then the sun shines down on the Greys, Lake is unbeatable and turns away a ton of shots, then finally Heals finally scores making it 4 to 3 and we have a game.  By the way, have you ever seen anyone cover as much ice as Heald?  Of course most of that is past the blue line, but really after that, he covers a lot of ice....!   At this point I must say that the Greys really did start to step it up, and the guys that were left were playing some damn fine grinding hockey: Davidson, Shenk and Shmidty were have stand out games at D. DB, dirty boy, Dungy who was frustrated and hates to lose, played great and while he did not get on the score sheet, he also stayed out of the penalty box.  "TF Feddern" who will be off on an cruise, also played a great game.  But with 335 on the clock the Colt's scored again making it 5 to 3.  It was looking bleak for the Greys, but did they quit? Nope, not them, Hobie "the Cat" Randall popped Heals free and he scores his second making it 5-4 with 1.5 to go.

The goalie is pulled, the extra attacker is out, but then so is the clock, Greys lose.  But you know what, it is never a dull moment with this group and It was a player on the other team, talking to his Dad who said it best " that was a good game"  I agree, it was fun.  Imagine what the could do if they stayed out of the box?
