Gold in Leaside!!!!!
The Lady Rangers played 4 very competitive games in the Toronto Leaside March Madness Tournament which resulted in a gold medal finish. With a round robin record of 1-2-0 they managed to hold on to 2nd place and earn the right to a gold medal game against the Sudbury Lady Wolves. While the 2 losses were only by a goal they were not near as exciting as the final game. Down 1-0 late in the game the Ladies tied it up with a rebound goal by Megan Yake. Holding off the Wolves until the end of the period the game went into overtime. Halfway thru overtime, the hard work by Alex Ladd set up Christy Fleming for the tournament winning goal. Brittney Crawford was spectacular in the final game to cap off an awesome tournament performance. Honorable mentions to every other player who all also had fantastic tournament efforts. Thanx to Roy and the Sudbury Wolves for providing great competition in the final game. Thanx to Gary Parkinison and the Toronto Leaside Girl's Hockey Association for hosting a great event. Ted, Jon and Darlene, thanx for your support and help on the bench and with the girls.
