Thank you for your interest in the girls U11A Tryouts. My name is Josh Collins and I will be the Head Coach of the U11A team for the 2023-2024 season. I am very excited for the upcoming season and can't wait to get things started. I just wanted to share some info regarding the try out process for those attending.
Structure of Tryouts: There will be three, 90-minute tryout sessions/intrasquad games for all registered KMHA players and two 90-minute tryout sessions/intrasquad games for non-resident players before roster reductions begin. The remaining tryouts will be by invitation only. Selection Process: At registration, the players will be given a player identification number to be used to inform them if they advance to the next round of tryouts. The player ID numbers of the players advancing to the next round of tryouts will be posted on the team website by 9pm on April 22nd following our Intrasquad game and within 4 hours following our tryout skate on April 25th/2023.

Final Team Selection: The final selections will be in-person in the Murray Fried room immediately following our exhibition game on April 27th.
For the players who are unsuccessful during the tryout process, Greg Lee (U11B) will be running/attending the majority of the U11A tryouts, and his tryouts will begin on April 28th.

During the tryout process, the coaches and evaluators will be looking for the following from each athlete-Effort, Attitude, Skill, Work Ethic and Leadership. Were not necessarily looking for the 17 most skilled athletes, but we are looking for the 17 right athletes for this team. Here are a few things to keep in mind.
Be prepared-Have all your stuff packed and ready to go so your not missing anything. Hit the ice hard and fast when its your time to go. If your uncertain of a drill, ask a coach to explain or step back one or two in line and watch the player in front of you.
Effort-If the coaches ask you to skate hard to the blue line, than skate hard to the blueline. Don't quit before the drill is done.
Attitude-Arrive at the rink with a positive attitude and be supportive. Talk to the coaches and ask questions if you don't understand something.
Leadership-Step up and lead a drill if you know what it is. Help explain a drill if you don't understand it. Cheer for the other athletes if they do something well.
Do what you do best-If you have a great shot, show it to us. If your great at battling for pucks, battle hard and win your puck battles. Everyone does a couple things really, really well. Whatever it is you do really well, show it to the coaches and evaluators. You never know what they're looking for!
