Momentary Lapses - Provincials Game #3
Game three of Provincial Playdowns had the Lady Rangers continuing to suffer from some “Momentary Lapses” in DZone coverage against the Waterloo Ravens.

A solid start to the first had the Lady’s making many good “Choices and Options”. An unfortunate “Momentary Lapse” in DZone coverage put the Ravens up by one with just under five left in the period. An even more unfortunate bad bounce (yes, any puck shot towards the net is a good puck) put the Ravens up by two with just under two minutes left in the first. Struck again just five minutes into the second, another “Momentary Lapse” in DZone coverage would put the Ravens up by three. In what was their best “fight back” of the season, the Lady’s brought it to within two before the end of the second and quickly within one in the third. A weaker goal with just over six minutes left would be all that the Ravens needed to take their third “W” of Playdowns.

The game was a solid game for you. Better execution, better passing, better breakouts were all noticeable over your past Woolwich game. This kind of play will have you compete against anyone in the province. BUT, as noted before, it’s not that others are better than you, it’s that you give up opportunity on your lapses in coverage. Having sent out video of the Woolwich DZone coverage miscues, one third of you could not give us the eight minutes required to view the videos. Further, two of you viewed the video for only one minute (an amazing feet given there were ten video clips). Ask your folks about the “leading a horse to water” analogy.

We know we are hard on you and have higher expectations at times, but we hate seeing you give up another opportunity to be successful, when you have the talent to do so. Yes, it requires time, yes it requires commitment, yes it requires hard work, but when you want to compete with the best in (insert whatever you want here), that’s what’s required. Otherwise, all we are competing for is a participation medal and we believe you are all better than that.
