WHO IS INVOLVED?
This exchange is open to House League Teams ONLY! Although it began with higher skilled players 42 years ago, it has developed into an event that allows players who would probably not have the opportunity to participate in travel hockey due to skill or finance to participate. Now house league players have the opportunity to experience hockey with the emphasis on fun and friendship not serious competition. There are NO trophies to be won! We take part in this exchange for the pure enjoyment of the game. The way minor hockey was meant to be played at the house league level.
WHAT DOES THE EXCHANGE CONSIST OF?
The friendship exchange runs for four days, in February( Feb. 6-9, 2015) down in Lancaster Pennsylvania.
The tournament then returns to Kitchener in March(March 6-9, 2015)
Tours of Indian Echo Caverns, Harley Davidson, Reptile Land, Little League Baseball Museum and Hershey Chocolate Factory are some of the places we visit along the way.
The exchange consists of three very important components.
SPORT:
- The players learn the importance of sportsmanship and the true enjoyment one can receive when playing Hockey.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- The tours planned by the committee have been put together to educate everyone young and old alike.
FRIENDSHIP!
- In February everyone starts as strangers and ends up with a new friend, not just for a quick weekend but also for life. The highways between Kitchener and Lancaster have been well travelled.
A HOCKEY SEASON LASTS A FEW MONTHS BUT A FRIENDSHIP LASTS FOREVER!
