UPDATE - 2024-2025 Tryout Introduction BB/B
Hello KMHA Hockey Families. The coaching staff for both the Red and Blue teams would like to welcome you to the 2024-2025 Kitchener Jr. Ranger U11 BB/B season tryouts starting on Saturday May 4th, 2024

My name is Luke Simon, I am the Head Coach for the Red Team for this coming season, and Alan Dyck is Head Coach for the Blue Team. We would like to share some information about the upcoming tryouts as it can be a busy time of year with all the other tryouts going on including other sports.

The tryout schedule is posted and up to date on the website. Every player that has registered is guaranteed at least three (3) tryout ice times (2 on Saturday, and 1 on Sunday), and split into two (2) groups.

Group 1 will be on the ice Saturday May 4 at 3:00 PM and 6:30 PM, as well Sunday May 5 at 10:00 AM.

Group 2 will be on the ice Saturday May 4 at 4:00 PM and 7:30 PM, as well Sunday May 5 at 11:00 AM.

The first set of releases will occur after Sunday’s ice times and at the same time, you will be informed who will be playing in the potential exhibition or 3 on 3 Scrimmage intrasquad game on Tuesday May 7th at 5:00 PM and full intrasquad game on Thursday May 9th at 6:00 PM, after which a team selection draft will occur and final releases made shortly after. Note that players will be divided amongst the games happening on Tuesday and Thursday, with an expectation that each player may not be playing each game. Games where players are sitting out the game are not required to attend, but are optional if they wish. A posting to the team web page letting players know which games they will be required to attend using the players tryout identification number (TIN) will go up.

The plan is to close the team selection draft on Thursday May 9th. Players selected by the respective BB/B team will be contacted directly by that coach that night to let each player know they have been selected to play on either the Red or Blue team for the upcoming season.

When registration closes as we get closer to the start of tryouts, information will be emailed (evening of Thursday May 2nd) out to each player registered, informing which group your player is in for the Saturday and Sunday ice times. The email will also provide a Tryout Identification Number (TIN) that is private and unique to your player for these tryouts. Please keep this tryout identification number for the entire tryout process, and note that this number is a different number than the number provided during AAA, and AA/A tryouts. Tryout releases to be made by posting on the team website all the TIN’s that are successful moving on to the next tryout stage. All players whose TIN is not posted on either team website will have been released to house league and should expect further direction regarding their fall evaluations prior from KMHA at a later date.

Please do your best to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to ice times, with all equipment. Players will be divided up by blue and red within each group and they are to use the respective dressing room based on group colour. A list of names and jersey numbers will be posted up outside the dressing rooms for convenience with jersey/pinnies hanging up inside the room. It's important that players use the assigned dressing rooms and jersey colour and number that has been assigned to them during tryouts. The Reason for this is to help even out the dressing rooms as they get pretty crowded with current numbers trying out, as well as the many coaches and evaluators using lists with these assignments to evaluate the players. If wearing the wrong jersey we will not be able to evaluate that player. Please ensure players and goalies bring a jersey of their own as some players will need to wear a pinnie over their jersey.

I know as a parent, a coach and a past player that these tryouts can be very stressful, so let's calmly encourage our kids and most of all support them in having fun.

Thank you, and best of luck to all that will be trying out!

We are all excited and looking forward to the tryouts and upcoming season!

If you have NOT received an email from myself by the morning of Friday May 3rd stating the ice time for your athlete, please contact me directly.  If you haven't registered yet, please do so immediately, or immediately following any tryout release from above Seeded Division.
