U16 BB/B – RED Update Ep 1
Read on to learn more about the composition of our team, our first social, and a chance to meet the coaches and team chat.

Hi Jr Ranger Families!

Welcome to your first newsletter for the U16 BB/B Red team.  We use this as a means to connect with parents and share information about upcoming schedule additions, events, and other news worthy topics.

U16 BB/B RED PLAYERS

First off, congratulations to the 17 athletes who were selected for the U16 BB/B Red team for the ‘24/’25 season.  The players were chosen to put together the best ‘team’ oriented squad we could possibly assemble.  There may have been better individually skilled players, but we chose based on hard work, determination and the team game each player showcased.  In our years of experience, these traits are what make for a great experience both on and off the ice.

COACHES

We had a chance to quickly introduce ourselves at the huddle following the last tryout.  Here’s your coaching squad for next season:

Head Coach

Asst Coach

Asst Coach

Trainer

Practice Coach

Colin Pike

PLAYER/PARENT SOCIAL

We have organized a quick player/parent social.  We thought it was a great way for the players to get connected before the summer break.  We have chosen Saturday June 8, from 3pm-5pm at Peak Fitness in St Agatha.   We’ll organize some ice breakers for the players, a game of volleyball followed by a pot luck to socialize a bit.

We’ll also bring jerseys to select our numbers and jersey sizes for next year.  So bring your shoulder pads / elbow pads if you want an accurate fit.

Please stay tuned for a message from our Team Manager, Paige Barnard on more details about the team social in a couple weeks.  Thank you also to our other volunteers to help fill the Treasurer, Fund Raising and EAP roles.

TELEGRAM

We’ve set up a team Telegram chat group for coaches to send time sensitive messages and for parents to stay connected.  Please reply to my note if you have not been added, or wish to add more family members to the group.  Paige will get you all set up.

That’s it for now.  See you in a couple weeks.  It is 114 days until the start of the regular season.  Not that I’m counting or anything…

Sponsors
SCHERER Chevrolet Buick GMC

Timbits
The Timbits Minor Sports Program is a community-oriented sponsorship program for children four to eight years old who participate in local house league sports teams. The program's philosophy is not based on winning or losing - but on learning a new sport, making new friends, and just taking time out to be a kid. Tim Hortons currently sponsors over 200,000 children who play on hockey, soccer, lacrosse, t-ball, baseball and ringette teams across Canada and in the United States. Each sponsored team is supplied with Timbits Minor Sports jerseys or T-shirts. Timbits hockey teams are often given the opportunity to play on-ice scrimmages during intermissions at Junior, American Hockey League (AHL) and National Hockey League (NHL) games and do so with our own KITCHENER JR. A RANGERS. Tim Horton's once again sponsor's our 40 entry level HL teams this year.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada
Our friends at Toyota continue to support Kitchener Minor Hockey by returning as a House League Gold Sponsor yet again for this season. Toyota also sponsors the Toyota Challenge featuring teams from the region in competition and the opportunity to travel to Japan. The Toyota Hockey Challenge consists of round robin competition amongst top Kitchener, Waterloo & Cambridge teams, with the top two teams then competing in a one-game show down that will determine the team to represent the Tri-Cities in a once-in-a-lifetime cultural exchange to Japan. The team that wins the Toyota Hockey Challenge will travel to Hokkaido, Japan during March Break for a cultural exchange with the Tomakomai Allstars, all expenses paid by TMMC. Thanks Toyota!
