Third and Goal on the One Point Line
Needing a win to secure their berth in the top four for playoffs, the Lady Rangers found themselves needing a goal in the third to pick up two points while facing the Guelph Gryphons at home on Saturday.
Starting out strong in the first the Lady’s out-shot and out chanced the Gryphons and capitalized on a beautiful deflection to take a 1 – 0 lead after one. Continuing in their “late period” goals against, the Gryphons took advantage of the games only PP to tie things up at one on just their second shot of the second period with fifty-one seconds remaining. Despite continued good play in the third, the Lady’s were not able beat strong Guelph goaltending and found themselves still needing one point to secure a top four playoff berth.
Overall, it was a solid game with good effort from everyone. You continue to generate opportunities, which is all we can ask for. Are there still areas to tighten up on, absolutely. More communication in the O Zone will go along way as will quicker decision making for passes that should easily be made. Just a couple more practices and a couple more games to shore things up before the second season begins. Remember the only two thing that you can control. Nothing else matters. Keep working hard ladies! The time is near.
