Clinching in Game #21
The Kitchener Lady Rangers U18 “A’s” welcomed the Grand River Mustangs for their twenty first game of the regular season. A tie or win would solidify a top four finish for the Lady’s.
A slow start to the first saw the Lady’s outshooting the Mustang’s but solid goaltending at both ends kept the game scoreless. Five minutes into the second, a beautifully played two on one (looked a lot like Marchand’s Team Canada one!) put the Lady’s on the board. With just under three minutes left in the frame, a nice shot on goal with an F2 net drive gave the Lady’s some insurance heading into the third. Halfway through the third, the Lady’s would secure their “W” (every shot on goal is a good shot) and clinch a top four spot for playoff’s.
This was a longer journey than necessary but as in life, there were many valuable lessons learned along the way. Do not lose the importance of these lessons. Your continued success in playoffs and playdown’s will depend on what you have truly learned.
