Playoffs - Round 1 vs. Saugeen
The Kitchener Lady Rangers U18 “A’s” faced off in round one of the playoffs against the Saugeen Maitland Lightning.
Opening game one in Teeswater, the Lady’s started strong in the first with several good opportunities. With just under four minutes left in the first, a good OZFO shot and rebound put the Lady’s up by one. Continuing strong in the second, the Lady’s converted on a PP opportunity mid-way through the period. The Lady’s would add one more with just over two minutes left in the frame to take a 3 – 0 lead into the third. A hard and smart third would see the Lady’s taking game #1.
Returning to Kitchener for game #2, the game remained closer in both shots and opportunities. The first goal was a nice 2 v. 1 just over two minutes into the period. The Lightning would take advantage on their PP and tied things up at “one” with just under five minutes left in the first. Scoring on their first shot of the second while shorthanded would be all that was necessary for the Lady’s to take game #2 and advance to round 2 of the playoffs.
Having split the regular season games with Saugeen, round one could have gone either way. Playing hard and smart hockey is always preferable and you did so in both playoff games. Continued hard work and staying out of the box will be key in your continued playoff success. On behalf of the Kitchener Lady Rangers players and staff, we would like to thank Saugeen for a great 2024 / 2025 regular season and wish all the players and staff good luck going forth in Provincial Playdowns.
