Good-Bye to a Magnificent Seven
The Kitchener Lady Rangers U18 “A’s” said thanks to a “magnificent seven” group of players who are leaving KLR U18 hockey.

With the end of the regular season, so comes the last few weeks of U18 hockey for several of our players. Last month the juniors took the time to recognize and thank seven Lady Rangers who will be leaving the line up at season’s end.

Joining us for her first year of KLR hockey, Ms. Lind brought some outstanding backstopping abilities with a .952 save percentage and a remarkable 0.56 GAA.  Rarely seen without a smile (even while taking several “high” practice shots), Ms. Lind brought a solid foundation to our back-end success. We know you can handle all those “high shots” that come at you in life and wish you continued success and good health along the way.

Returning for a second season with us at forward, Ms. Schweitzer’s work ethic was second to none. Playing as if she was 6’3” and 230lbs, there was no corner of any rink in any part of the province that you did not visit.  We know and sincerely appreciate that the journey to get you here was not an easy one and remain grateful for your persistence. Hurdles will always be a part of life. Your tenacity (both on and off the ice), continued hard work, commitment, and dedication are all things that we can’t teach. You either “have it” or you don’t.  You “have it” Neve. Continue to use it and success in life is yours!

Returning on Defense for her second season with us, Ms. Moorhouse used her speed and hockey sense, in helping to round out a solid back end this season. With only two minutes in penalties during the regular season, Ms. Moorehouse was a player of few words off the ice, but on ice was perhaps our most vocal, always looking to help a “sister” out. Continue to be vocal Syd. Hearing a voice and knowing that someone has your back is a comforting feeling. Keep providing that comfort.

Returning for their third season with us (yes, the definition of true insanity!) a big hole will be left by the departure this season of Ms. Barry, Ms. Court, Ms. Main and Ms. Wells, who played a combined five hundred and ninety-two “Kitchener Lady Rangers” U18 “A” games for us the past three seasons.

Playing in one hundred and fifty-three (153) games to date, Ms. Barry was a utility player who could be found playing defense or forward at any given time, in any given game. With an incredibly smart hockey mind, we know your versatility and hockey smarts will translate into your future performance in the business world. As I said in the reference, “we are in good hands”.

Playing in one hundred and forty-one (141) games to date, Ms. Court preserved through portions of several seasons with some ongoing injury. Each return to the ice made us a better team and we were pleased with all your off-ice efforts in making us better on ice.  Life will throw many challenges your way. Although it may be hard to pick yourself up, you certainly proved that you “can and will” with any future challenges.

Playing in one hundred and forty-nine (149) games to date, Ms. Main’s offensive mindedness and passion had her leading the charge in many games over the past three seasons. Sometimes that “passion” led to the box but your love of the game and want to always give as much as you could was evident. Remember your shoulders are rounded for a reason. Soften the delivery (“I know you won’t understand what I’m going to say”) and remember to breath. Your hard work and determination will serve you well in life.

Also playing in one hundred and forty-nine (149) games to date and having served as an assistant captain for her first two seasons with us, Ms. Wells returned as our “Captain” this season. As a “mid-manager” your communication with us both on and off the ice was appreciated. The commitment to better yourself this past off season was simply outstanding. Hard work is something that we can’t teach and the work you put in was clearly evident in your on-ice performance. Your work ethic, communication ability and leadership will all serve you well at RMC.

On behalf of Tim, James, Sarah and Kenny, we wish you all the best of luck with your future endeavors. If you ever need anything from us, please remember that we are only a rink (or phone call) away!

Tim Hortons currently sponsors over 200,000 children who play on hockey, soccer, lacrosse, t-ball, baseball and ringette teams across Canada and in the United States. Each sponsored team is supplied with Timbits Minor Sports jerseys or T-shirts. Timbits hockey teams are often given the opportunity to play on-ice scrimmages during intermissions at Junior, American Hockey League (AHL) and National Hockey League (NHL) games and do so with our own KITCHENER JR. A RANGERS. Tim Horton's once again sponsor's our 40 entry level HL teams this year.
