Hamilton Girls Hawkey Gold
Congratulations to all the Kitchener Lady Rangers U18 “A’s” on their 2025 Hamilton Girls Hawkey tournament Gold!

The Lady Rangers started things off early Friday morning against the Mississauga Hurricanes #5879. The early morning game would not be kind to the Lady’s who would suffer their first loss of the tournament before most were even out of bed (kidding, but that’s what it felt like). After a blunt conversation / coaches venting regarding continued “expectations”, the Lady’s would go on a 10 – 0 goal tear over the next three games against Central York #56, Central York #43 and the Hamilton Hawks. After Saturday’s nights “W”, the stage was set for a Sunday gold medal final game re-match against the Hurricanes.

Trade war and Tariff’s aside, the first shift of the game saw the seasons one and only “Michigan” putting the Lady’s up by one just thirty-seven seconds into the first. The Hurricanes would settle in with the teams exchanging several good second-period scoring opportunities before the Lady’s would add to their lead just sixteen seconds into the third. With the net empty, Mississauga would keep everyone on the edge of their seats coming within one with just over two minutes remaining in the game. With the net still empty, the Lady’s would solidify their gold with not one but two empty netters to end their 2024-2025 season with a Hamilton Hawkey Gold!

After a sixty-three-game season your last few games really exemplified the hockey that you were capable of playing. Good passes, sustained pressure, shots on “net”, and continued good choices and options were all evident in your play. The gold was well-deserved, and it was nice to see the “expectations” continuing to be met.

Our thanks to Mississauga #5879 (3-1), Central York #56 (6-0), Central York #43 (3-0), Hamilton (1-0) and Mississauga #5879 (4-1) for five well played games of hockey.

CONGRATULATIONS Ladies! A great way to end the 2024 - 2025 Season.

Kitchener Minor Hockey Association, as part of their mandate, provides financial support for children in this community who, without our assistance, would not be afforded the opportunity to participate in organized hockey in the City of Kitchener. Monies for this cause have been donated by various individuals and organizations over the years, however with increasing demands we have the need to provide further support for this program. One hundred per cent of the funds raised by KIDS IN GEAR are channelled directly to purchase equipment for children.
