What to Expect at Tryouts
Hi Families and Athletes,

My name is Jimmy Gagnon, and along with my coaching staff, I’m excited to be working with the Kitchener Rangers AA program this season.

I want to take a moment to thank you and your players for your interest in our program. We look forward to a competitive and fast-paced tryout experience. Below is an outline of our ice time plan and projected adjustments. Please note that, unlike previous seasons, there are no guaranteed ice times; however, every athlete will have the opportunity to work hard and have fun during their 50-minute session.

Teams for Day 1 skates will be posted on Friday, April 25th, so you can check what time your athlete will be skating.

Our philosophy and culture is around support and team play so we will be monitoring actions around the rink, and on the bench. Below are our "5 Core Leadership Pillars” that we will instil from day 1 of our program and are things we are looking for in our athletes.

1. Always put the team first
2. Lead by example
3. Make everyone around you better
4. Win and learn with integrity
5. Respect the game

Day 1

We will begin with fast paced 4 on 4 games to assess skill, speed, and hockey IQ. Depending on the number of participants, goalies will likely split games until we make the necessary roster adjustments.

**Day 1, we will be making roster adjustments, which will be posted on the team website that evening. This will include teams for day 2, which means if your athletes number is not posted we wish you luck in the upcoming season.**

Day 2

Day 2 will consist of 5 on 5 games, allowing us to evaluate finer details such as play without the puck, intensity, decision making and playmaking abilities. Goalies will again likely split games.

**Day 2, we will also make roster adjustments, which will be posted on the team website that evening. Athletes numbers who will be moving on to the Exhibition portion of the try-out will be posted. This will include those who will be suiting up and those who will not be required to dress. Again if your athlete's number is not posted, we wish you luck in the upcoming season.**

In closing, we kindly ask that, out of respect for the process, parents refrain from submitting inquiries once our decisions have been posted. We appreciate your understanding, as there are many moving parts during this tryout season, and this will allow our staff to focus on providing the best experience possible for all participants.

Thank you for your cooperation.Good luck to all participants—we're looking forward to a fantastic tryout!

Talk soon,
Coach Jimmy
