Jr. Rangers Win Waterloo Memorial Tournament Championship
The U18 AA Jr. Rangers capped off an incredible weekend on Sunday by winning the Waterloo Memorial Tournament, defeating the host Waterloo Wolves 5–2 in a thrilling championship rematch of last year’s final. After falling short in 2024, the Rangers returned determined and this time, they finished the job.

Waterloo opened the scoring to take an early 1–0 lead, but the Jr. Rangers stayed composed and stuck to their game plan. The Wolves’ goaltender was outstanding early, but once the Rangers tied the game, their confidence took over. They built a 4–1 lead, and after Waterloo pulled one back late, an empty-netter secured the 5–2 victory and the gold medal.

“This group knew it would be a battle,” the coaching staff said. “But we kept pushing. These players don’t give up.”

A Perfect 6–0 Weekend
The Jr. Rangers dominated from start to finish, going undefeated and outscoring their opponents 32–5.
Their results included:
3–0 vs. Orangeville Flyers
8–0 vs. LaSalle Sabres
5–1 vs. South West Admirals
5–1 vs. Flamborough Sabres
5–1 semifinal vs. Ajax–Pickering Raiders
5–2 championship vs. Waterloo Wolves

This marks the team’s second 6–0 tournament weekend of the season, following their championship run at the Richmond Hill Early Bird Tournament in September.

Season Snapshot

The Jr. Rangers now hold an impressive 15-0-0-1 tournament record, with their only non-win coming in a shootout at the Hamilton Huskies Classic over Thanksgiving.
Overall, the team sits at 23-1-1-1 and is currently ranked #1in Ontario at the U18 AA level. “This weekend made it clear—we’re heading in the right direction,” said the coaching staff. “We want to keep building on this as the season goes on".

” Next Up: Regional Silver Stick
The team now turns its attention to the Sudbury Regional Silver Stick, where they’ll look to continue their momentum and defend their title in Nickel City.
