Welcome to the KJR U12 BB Red Evaluations!!!!
Welcome to the Kitchener Jr Rangers U12 BB Red evaluations!

My name is Scott Atkins, and I am excited to lead the KJR U12 BB Red Program this season!

We are excited to welcome all players to the KJR U12 BB Red evaluations.  We are looking forward to assembling a team of like-minded players who place the team FIRST and play at a VERY high skill/competitive level.  As the tryout process has been altered this year, we will provide important details below as what to expect during the evaluation process.

Important Details:

·      **NEW** The KMHA U12 BB Program is now Tiered.  Coach Scott Atkins will be selecting the Red Team (Tier 1) and Coach Alan Dyck will be selecting the Blue Team (Tier 2).

·      The KJR U12 BB Red Team will move quickly through the tryout process to respect all involved.  The Red Team could possibly be selected within the first few days of tryouts.

·      The new tryout process does not guarantee the player 3 ice times.  The player is guaranteed one ice time (50 mins).

·      We HEAVILY encourage all players who are interested to try out at the BB level to be registered ASAP.  Please see the main KMHA page for the registration link.

·      We will be providing the players with unique ID numbers that will help guide the process along.  Please keep this ID private as this number will be used and posted on this web page if the player is successful in moving on to the next tryout.

·      As Day #1 of the tryouts will have 2 ice times (due to high number of registrations) we will inform players/parents which time they will skate by Friday evening (May 2).

·      Each evening after tryouts, we will post the ID’s of the players who are successful in moving on to the next tryout.

·      Offers will be sent via email, using the email address provided at BB tryout registration.  Please check your email regularly (as well as junk mail).  The offer will be time sensitive, so please check your email often.

·      Tryout jerseys will be provided for each player.  Please ensure the player places the jersey back in the bin prior to leaving the ice time.

Timeline overview (please see schedule for exact times):

Day One: Saturday May 3

Individual Skill sessions for group 1 and 2.  2 x 50 min sessions for each group.  Focus will be on skating, edge work, puck handling, shooting, compete and goaltending.

*Following these 2 sessions there will be releases.

Day Two: Sunday May 4

Small area compete sessions for group 1 and 2 – this session will focus on hockey IQ, compete level, and over all skill of each hockey player.  (Subject to change)

Day 3: Monday May 5

Intrasquad game - this session will focus on hockey IQ, compete level, ability to work together as a team and over all skill of each hockey player

Day 4: Wednesday May 7

                  Practice/skill ice time – TBD

Day 5: Thursday May 8

The Red Team will play an exhibition game against Stratford (in Stratford).

Please stay tuned for further updates.

We look forward to an AWESOME and COMPETITIVE tryout process.

Coach Scott
