Oakville Harvest Classic 2025
Thanks to all the Kitchener Lady Rangers U18 “A” ladies for their “first tournament” weekend!

On behalf of James, Ken, Sarah, and Tim, I wanted to thank all the ladies for the first tournament weekend of 2025 / 2026. Starting slow in game #1, the ladies spent some prolonged time in the D-Zone but managed to capitalize on both of their games power play opportunities. Penalty trouble in the second had them giving up a late 5 v. 3 goal with just three seconds left in the second. A stronger third solidified the first “W” of the tournament. Game #2 started in much the same manner with some slow, sloppy play with little first period flow. Although a much better effort all around in the second and third with some nice looks, more talking and nice boards passing would keep the game close, a late second period goal provided Barrie with all the scoring they would need to take game #2. Game 3 against Sarnia again started slow for the ladies (hopefully not a season long recurring theme!). Heavily out-shot in the first (and giving up two first period breakaways), the ladies weathered the storm and played some great hockey in the second and third. There were several good scoring opportunities but unfortunately the ladies were not able to capitalize and suffered their second loss of the tournament. Game 4 against Ottawa rounded out the ladies’ 1st tournament. There were moments of “amazingly good” and “amazingly not so good”. A great breakout series of passes lead to a penalty shot moment (which was buried) giving the ladies a 1 – 0 lead in the first. Capitalizing on another PP opportunity, the ladies would take a 2 – 0 lead into the break. With an exchange of goals in the third, the ladies would finish the tournament with a 2 and 2 record.

We appreciated your continued effort, hard work, and determination in each game of the tournament. The PK remained strong (remember the +1 MUST GO!), and some additional strength on puck, on ice awareness (scanning and shoulder checks) and communication, will go a long way towards your season’s success. Keep working on the “foundation” of the house as it will need to be solid moving forward. Please remember what we are working towards. No Provincial Championship has ever been awarded in September.

Thanks to the Kingston Ice Wolves (2-1), Barrie Sharks (0-2), Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting (0-1) and the Ottawa Ice (3-1) for four well-played games of hockey. Keep up the hard work ladies. The regular season is just around the corner!

On behalf of the Kitchener Lady Ranger U18 “A’s” we would like to congratulate the St. Catharines Brock Jr. Badgers on their tournament Gold. Well done!

Sun Life Kids In Gear
Donna's Kids is pleased to partner again for 2019/2020 season with Sun Life and their Kids In Gear program. Kitchener Minor Hockey Association, as part of their mandate, provides financial support for children in this community who, without our assistance, would not be afforded the opportunity to participate in organized hockey in the City of Kitchener. Monies for this cause have been donated by various individuals and organizations over the years, however with increasing demands we have the need to provide further support for this program. One hundred per cent of the funds raised by KIDS IN GEAR are channelled directly to purchase equipment for children.
Timbits
The Timbits Minor Sports Program is a community-oriented sponsorship program for children four to eight years old who participate in local house league sports teams. The program's philosophy is not based on winning or losing - but on learning a new sport, making new friends, and just taking time out to be a kid. Tim Hortons currently sponsors over 200,000 children who play on hockey, soccer, lacrosse, t-ball, baseball and ringette teams across Canada and in the United States. Each sponsored team is supplied with Timbits Minor Sports jerseys or T-shirts. Timbits hockey teams are often given the opportunity to play on-ice scrimmages during intermissions at Junior, American Hockey League (AHL) and National Hockey League (NHL) games and do so with our own KITCHENER JR. A RANGERS. Tim Horton's once again sponsor's our 40 entry level HL teams this year.
