19 Seconds
For the second time in two weekends, despite out shooting and out chancing their opponent, a mere “19 seconds” would take the Lady’s from a two point “W” to a one-point tie.
In their last meeting of the regular season, the Lady’s travelled to Mildmay take on the Lightning. A good start to the first saw the Lady’s applying good pressure, creating opportunity and maintaining good D-Zone coverage. Although there were a few missed F3 assignments in the second, proving that any shot on net is a good shot, the Lady’s would take a 1 – 0 lead heading into the break. Their solid play would continue into the third with a nice breakout pass, 2 v. 1 top shelf snipe, putting the Lady’s up by two with just over halfway through the third. The funny thing about time is that sometimes you don’t need a lot of it. With just over four minutes remaining, a breakdown in D-Zone coverage put the Lightning within one. And just nineteen seconds later, continuing to be plagued by attention to detail, the Lady’s would give up the tying goal and leave Mildmay with a single point.
We have continued to discuss your attention to detail and focusing on “you” doing “your” job. In an overall well-played game with many good choices and options, it was again a momentary lapse that prevented you from having a two-point weekend. Please watch both video clips. You must challenge yourselves to be better. The fight for top four / top eight is going to depend on it.
