London Devilettes 35th Annual
The Lady Rangers travelled West to London this weekend to play in the London Devilettes 35th Annual tournament.

The Lady’s open play on Friday afternoon against the Toronto Leaside Wildcats. A slow start saw the Lady’s go the first ten minutes without a shot on goal. The Lady’s opened the scoring in the second on a point “shot on net” and followed it up with a nice F1 to F3 slot pass. Penalty trouble late in the second would bring the Wildcats within one but the Lady’s held on for their first “W” of the tournament. Game two saw the Lady’s facing the Bluewater Hawks. A great start in the first saw the Lady’s with the first four shots of the game. Closing the gap, good puck movement and more overall hustle had the Lady’s playing one of their most complete games of 2026. Although not rewarded for their efforts, the Lady’s would come away with another valuable tournament “point”. Game three had the Lady’s facing the Oakville Hornets. Oakville currently sits second in the South Division just two points behind powerhouse St. Cathairnes. Capitalizing on an early PP opportunity, the Lady’s took a 1 – 0 lead into the second. For the next eight minutes the parade to the penalty box would be relentless. Some warranted and some not so much, the Lady’s weathered a huge storm killing off “six” (yes, do the math, a few 5 v. 3’s just for some further excitement) second period penalties. Starting even strength in the third, a momentary lack of coverage had the Hornets tying things up at one. In a recurring failure to make some adjustments for “speed”, the Lady’s gave up a late period odd player opportunity to put the Hornets up by one. With just under two minutes left and the net empty, the tenaciousness of the Lady’s would be rewarded with a late game tying goal and the necessary “point” to advance to Sunday’s semi-finals.  Facing the London Devilettes in the semi-final, a good start was diminished by a familiar odd player rush to put the Devilettes up by one after the first. Some great second period hockey saw good breakouts, passing and solid physical play all around. For the second game in a row, the first shot of the third proved difficult for the Lady’s and would give London all the scoring necessary to advance to the finals.

Aside from the Leaside game, the coaching staff were very pleased with your tournament efforts this weekend. Your compete level, passing, choices of breakouts and overall GAF factor was noticeable throughout these games. Although we would like to not visit the box as often as we did, your PK execution was also very solid. Continue to build on the positives from this weekend as we head into the final two games of the regular season and into the time when “attention to detail” on every shift will matter.

Our thanks to Toronto Leaside (2-1), Bluewater Hawks (0-0), Oakville Hornets (2-2) and the London Devilettes (3-0) for four well played games of hockey. On behalf of the Kitchener Lady Ranger U18 “A’s” we would like to congratulate the Barrie Sharks on their tournament Gold. Well done!
