The Kitchener Lady Rangers U18 “A’s” said thanks to a “fabulous five” group of players who are leaving KLR U18 hockey.
With the end of the regular season, so comes the last few weeks of U18 hockey for several of our players. The juniors took the time to recognize and thank five Lady Rangers who will be leaving the line up at seasons end.
Joining us for her first year of wearing the red, white, and blue, Ms. Preston helped backstop us in 23 games throughout the season with a 14-6-3 record including 5 shutouts. Rarely seen without a smile, we feel fortunate to have had you with us this season and know you can handle all those “shots” that come at you in life. Continued success no matter where the path takes you!
Returning on Defense for her second season with us, Ms. Armstrong anchored a solid backend while splitting playing time in both the D-Zone and O-Zone. With an incredible amount of support from her teammates in being named an Assistant Captain this season, we know you will continue your development no matter what “zone” you find yourself in with life.
Joining us for her third season, although only playing in two, Ms. Sonnemann’s presence on the ice was welcomed back this year. Playing the only way she knew how, “Sonny” made her presence known on the ice. We know that the injury at the end of the first season was tough, however your resilience and hard work is something that we cannot teach, and it will carry you far in life.
Returning for a third season with us, Ms. Buchanan could perhaps be named the Kitchener Lady Rangers “Ms. Congeniality” for her total (or perhaps total lack thereof) penalty minutes during her three seasons. Playing in 116 games (excluding playoffs and playdowns) Ms. Buchanan amassed a “whopping” twelve minutes of penalties over the three seasons. The ability to “play the game” by the rules is a great life skill, as there are many who will always try to cut the corners. Continue to lead by that example Alex.
Also returning for her third season with us, Ms. Eichholz played 110 games of U18 “A” Lady Rangers hockey. An assistant captain last season and our “Captain” this season, we felt like we had won the lottery with your return to us each season. You were our defensive anchor and go to for last minute, power play and penalty kill needs. We could not have asked for anything more in such a polite, respectful, and hardworking player and leader. We are mindful that you could have left and played hockey at a higher level but chose to remain with us and for that we are truly appreciative. Hard work, commitment, and dedication are all things that we can’t teach. You either “have it” or you don’t. Thanks for being such a great player, leader, and young lady that you are. These attributes will serve you well in life.
On behalf of Tim, Sarah, James and Kenny, we wish you all the best of luck with your future endeavors. If you need anything from us, we are only a rink (or phone call) away!
