Heart Attack Kids Strike Again
The Pirates, soon to be known as the Heart Attack Kids, almost pulled off a come-from-behind win but had to settle for a 4-4 tie against the Tigers on Sunday morning. The feisty Tigers needed to pull their goalie with the man advantage to salvage a point as the see saw battle surged back and forth.
After a late third period goal by Eli, the Tigers managed to tie the game with only 0:07 seconds remaining.
The Tigers got off to an early lead and were up 2-0 before the Pirate attack started to get rolling. Two second period goals by Tim (from Brandon) and then Brandon (from Tim) got the Pirates right back into the game.
Not to be outdone, the Tigers "roared" back (Get it? ...roared, Tigers) in the third to take a 3-2 lead early in the third. Only 10 seconds later Finn tied it up. Later in the third period, with only 3:26 remaining, Eli flew in on the Tigers net and converted for a 4-3 lead.
This set up a frenzied finish to the game when the Pirates went down a man with 1:20 remaining. When the
Tigers pulled their goalie to make it 6-on-4 the Pirates almost potted the insurance marker into the empty net only to have the Tigers break out of their own end and find the twine with 7 seconds remaining to go in the game.
Final score Pirates 4 - Tigers 4. Good job Pirates!
