Biggest comeback on record is what these Lady Rangers should take away from this weekend.
The coaching staff is extremely proud of the Bantam BB team this weekend. They had some tough competition in Pool A but came out on top and delivered when it counted to send them to the semi-finals on Sunday morning. Facing some tough competition in the Brantford Ice Cats the girls battled hard and surged to a 3-0 victory with goals coming from the "Full House" line of number 77, 7 and 88. The girls were set and pumped to face the North Simcoe Capitals in the final on Sunday afternoon. A slow start for sure had parents and coaches on the edge of their seats. At the 6:59 mark of third period, facing a 3 goal deficit the girls decided they weren't quite ready to admit defeat. They stunned the crowd by scoring 3 quick goals in the last 7 mins with the last goal coming at 1:12 of the third period. We were off to overtime. The hockey Gods didn't have any bounces left in them though and after roughly 3 mins North Simcoe came in on a breakaway and beat our outstanding netminder. While this wasn't the result any of the girls wanted, I was truly inspired by their spirit and refusal to quit. I think they've learned a couple things this weekend: 1. Playing all three periods is much easier than playing 7 mins of one. 2. NEVER, EVER GIVE UP! This team of amazing ladies have set themselves up to do some amazing things this season.
