After “55”
regular season, tournament, playoff and playdown games, game “56” would prove
to be a heart breaker!Opening the Provincial Qualifier round robin, the ladies played their first two games against the Waterloo Ravens. A late goal in game two afforded all four points to the Lady Rangers. The next two games were against our season nemesis Roadrunners. Although up by one in the third, the Roadrunners battled back to tie game one at “two” with just over five minutes remaining. The stage was set for game “56” and afforded all the excitement that the parents and staff could handle. Remembering that any shot on net is a “good shot”, the Roadrunners capitalized on a late second period “shot on net”. While it will never be replayed as the “highlight of the night”, it was all that was needed for the Roadrunners to advance as the “M” Region representatives for the 2017 – 2018 OWHA Provincial Championships.
Thanks to the ladies for all your efforts. Your hard work did not go unnoticed and we share your disappointment. As promised, the sun will rise tomorrow and we will all move forward to game two of round three for the LLFHL. Whatever round three may hold, please know that it has been a real pleasure for all of us to have been part of your 2017 – 2018 season. You are a GREAT bunch of young ladies.
