Thanks to
all the Kitchener Lady Rangers Midget “A” ladies for their efforts in the 29th
Annual London Devilettes Tournament.
Facing Toronto Leaside in game one, the ladies controlled the play and generated several good scoring opportunities. An incredibly questionable call (with all do respect) late in the third afforded Leaside a “6 on 4” powerplay. With time about to expire, Toronto capitalized on a favorable boards bounce to tie the game at “two”. Starting game two a little flat against the London Devilettes #647, the ladies picked up their play and headed into a scoreless third. A momentary lapse in D Zone coverage late in the third provided all the scoring that would be giving London the “W”. Game three had the ladies facing undefeated Rideau-St. Lawrence. Playing true Lady Ranger hockey with great pressure (remember the difference between a push up and a step up), solid passing and several quality scoring opportunities the ladies came away with a well earned “W”. Unfortunately, the tie break formula was not meant to be.
Although not “thrilled” with several of the trips to the “box” this weekend, the coaching staff was very pleased with your overall level of play. We had a mission, worked on several areas in practice, had goals and asked you to work on things that will make us successful in playoff’s and playdowns. AND YOU DID! Please remember the paper on the dressing room wall and what it was we were truly playing for this weekend. If you continue to execute this way, you will be successful.
