Rangers Make Strong Run to Semis at Dan Pulham Tournament
Bantam Select Rangers made a strong run to the semis losing a tight 3-2 game to the eventual tournament winner.

Boys got off to a slow start to the tourney with a 5-1 loss to the eventual Finalist Thornhill Rebels.  The boys admitted after the game that it was a poor effort and they had much more to give heading into must win games to continue on in the tournament.

Game 2 was a much stronger effort with the boys skating much better and moving the puck against a Scarborough team.  The result of their efforts was a big 7-3 win to keep out hopes alive and earn a quarter final spot.  Taking home the double Mr. Big Game was Spencer McCormick who had two goals and a helper to lead the way for the Rangers.

Game 3 was another strong effort vs Don Mills which saw the Rangers push themselves into the quarter finals with a big 4-0 win.  They battled hard all game and shut the door defensively with some good goaltending form Max Thompson and a solid D core.  Taking home the Mr. Big game with a huge game and an epic soccer style assist was Ethan Lafleur.

Quarterfinal vs Erindale was good back and forth hockey game that was a tight 1-1 game until the boys put on their workboots in the 2nd half of the game and created two big chances to score which they executed on. Nathan Hancock preserved the win with some great goaltending.   Rashaun Williamson for his stellar defensive play and game winning goal with a howitzer from the point took home the Mr. Big Game.  Off to the Semis with a 3-1 win!

Semi Final vs Dofasco with some inclement weather which prevented some players from playing in this game.  With a short handed bench the boys fought their way to a 2-0 lead which carried all the momentum leading into the 2nd period.  The boys stamina started to fade into the end of the 2nd and 3rd with the injuries and short bench and they went down 3-2 on a fluky goal against.  With the goalie pulled and a 6 on 4 advantage the boys executed a perfect face off play and scored what seemed to be the game tying goal with a minute left.  The goal was waived off questionably on a high stick call.  The boys pushed hard the rest of the way to try and tie it and gave left everything they had on the ice.  For his stellar goaltending that kept it a tight one goal game and giving us a chance to win, Max Thompson took home the Mr. Big Game.

Lot of growing together as a team this weekend, super proud of the effort the boys put in with their backs against the wall.  They all took it upon themselves to come out hard and perform under some challenging conditions and we walk away from this tough loss a much much stronger team!

Go Rangers Go!
