KMHA House League U10-U18 4on4 Rules – 2020/2021
season
Section One: Governing Play
(a) All CHA rules are in
effect unless otherwise stated.
(b) The Director/VP has
final authority concerning all rules and regulations including, but not limited
to, suspensions, expulsions, and general discretion of conduct.
Section Three: Replacements
& Reserves
(a) Notification must be
given to the Convenor and or Director prior to the use of replacements.
Replacements can only be used from
same Cohort with exception of Goalie which we can use from the teams we are
playing within our loop.
(b) Replacement players
may only be used to meet the minimum of 8 skaters, not to fill the benches. Players
from other team within your Cohort must all get a fair chance to play extra games
not just certain players
(c) Unregistered
players may NOT be used for any reason.
Section Four: Rules of Play
(a) All games will be NON-BODYCHECKING.
(b) All games will be 2
running time periods for Novice to Midget (22min/22min with a 3min warm up
& a 1-minute break at the 10 minute mark of the 2 period.
(c) Games are to start on time, 3
minute warm up will start at the exact time of scheduled game. If players are
not ready game will start without them, they can join the bench once they are
ready.
(d) Game puck possession will
start with the visiting team at the start of the game. Home team will get first
possession for 2nd period.
(e) When play is stopped
due to the goalie controlling the puck or a goal was scored, a whistle will
signal the attacking players to vacate the zone. Referees will indicate
that the zone is to be cleared. Once all the attackers have exited the zone,
the players may re-enter to resume play immediately. They may not challenge
the opposition until they have all cleared the zone. Attacking the zone prematurely
can result in a delay of game penalty.
(f) No one player may
score more than three (3) goals. Upon the fourth & subsequent goals, the
goal will not be allowed, and the player will be assessed a penalty (see Minor
Penalties).
(g) All offside plays at
the blueline will be deemed delayed offside and a whistle will signal, and the
referee will call for the offending players to release the puck and exit the
zone. Once all the offending players have exited the zone together, they
may re-enter the offensive zone.
(h) Teams do not switch ends after each period.
(i) Players taking penalty shots must
maintain all their equipment intact and on their bodies.
Section Five: Shortage of Goaltender
(a) In the absence of
a goaltender, teams will play with five (5) skaters. The fifth skater may
not exit their zone except to change or in the last shift of the game. Fifth
skaters are not required to change on the buzzer and can change at any time. If
a player takes a ‘slap-shot’ at a player acting as the goaltender, he/she will
be ejected immediately.
Section Six: Minor Penalties
(a) Any player/goalie
having been assessed two (2) minor penalties in the same game will be
automatically ejected from that game.
ii. If a player is ejected during a second
game under the same circumstances as (c) that player will be served a further
one (1) game suspension.
iii. A third ejection will result in a disciplinary hearing with the
Chairman for further suspension or possible expulsion from the league.
(b) All Hockey Canada Suspensions apply
and will carry over to other Hockey Canada Programs
Section Seven: Major Penalties
(a) Major penalties will result in the immediate ejection of the
offending player(s) and suspension pending further review by the Director/VP.
Minimum 1 game suspension.
(b) Fighting majors will result
in the penalized player(s) being expelled from the league indefinitely
pending further review by the Director/VP. Minimum 3 game suspension.
Section Eight: Coaches, Managers
(a) Up to (3) three coaches,
assistants or trainers may be on the benches. All bench personnel must be
registered with the league and wear a protective facemask.
(b) Coaches are required to make
every effort to ensure EQUAL ICE TIME for all 4 on 4 participants and
there is to be no shortening of the bench.
(c) Any bench personnel having
been ejected from a game, for any reason, will be automatically suspended for a
minimum 1 game and subject to further review for possible expulsion from
the league. INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR, CONDUCT OR LANGUAGE WILL NOT BE
TOLERATED!
(d) Coaches are asked to encourage fair,
clean play and to encourage good sportsmanship.
