Welcome to the 2021-2022 U10 AAA Kitchener Rangers Season
Firstly, we would like to welcome everyone to the 2021-2022 Hockey Season for the U10 AAA Kitchener Rangers.  The Coaching Staff is extremely excited about the year ahead and all that it is going to bring.  The last two years have exhibited challenges in a variety of different ways, which will make the upcoming season that much more enjoyable.  At this point, we are planning for a regular season of hockey while being aware of all the necessary public health guidelines and restrictions as it relates to keeping our players, parents, and volunteers safe.

The foundation of this year’s team will be built on values such as; hard work, accountability, respect for sport, and ultimately learning and having fun!!  We will strive to be the hardest working team on the ice in all circumstances.  We will respect ourselves, the sport and its rules, the referees, and our opponents.  We will learn how to become better people and better hockey players.  Having said all of this, the number one objective of the year far and above everything else is to have FUN!

With the U10 age group the Coaching Staff will focus on continuing to develop individual skill related to skating, passing, and shooting as we start to incorporate learning the full ice 5v5 game and some of the basic individual and team tactics.  Our Season development plan is aligned with Hockey Canada and KMHA’s U10 Breakdown of 75% individual skill, 15% hockey sense, and 10% systems/tactics.

The Season will begin with an ice time on Monday, August 23rd from 5:30-6:30pm that will be a Goalie ONLY clinic.  It will be conducted by a Goalie Trainer/Coach and include goalie specific drills applicable to the U10 age group.  Tryouts will then start on Monday, September 13th with every player guaranteed a minimum of 3 ice times during tryouts.  The first ice time will be skill stations, the second will be small area games and the third will be an intersquad game.  U10 AAA tryouts will finish on Sunday, September 19th.  You may find and download the U10 AAA Team Schedule here: https://kitchenerminorhockey.com/Teams/8489/Calendar/ .

We hope you are looking forward to the season as much as we are, and can’t wait to see all the players and goalies out at tryouts this fall.  Until then, please enjoy the rest of your summer!

Sincerely,

Head Coach - Shane Cicchine
And U10 AAA Coaching Staff
