excellent communication skills to fill this volunteer position for the upcoming
2024-2025 season.
Responsibilities & Characteristics

Committed to attend practices, games,
tournaments throughout the season
·
Adhere to the “2-deep” rule ensuring you are
never in a one-on-one situation with an athlete
·
Team Player – committed to working well with
coaching staff and equipment manager
·
Work with Equipment Manager to set up and
oversee the dressing room cleaning and maintenance
·
Understanding and promoting, along with the
other coaches, the principles of fair play.
·
Arrive at the rink early to ensure that the
premises are safe and ready for the team
·
Follow up with players who are still managing
injuries
·
Oversee the stretching and warm-up preparation
of the players
·
Attend to any identified equipment issues
·
Ensures that the water bottles are prepared and
delivered to the player’s bench
·
Maintain, stock and carry both a large Trainer’s
Kit and a smaller “on-ice” kit that will be available at all practices and
games.
·
Remain present on the player bench attending to
injuries and equipment issues as they occur
·
Should an injury occur, the trainer immediately
assesses and attends to the injury
·
Ensure that players have started the proper
nutritional regimen for post-game food and fluid intake
·
Development and implementation of a risk
management plan and program that emphasizes the prevention of injuries and
accidents before they occur.

Development and preparation of a viable
Emergency Action Plan, ensuring that all parties involved are aware of and
practiced in their roles.
·
Maintain accurate medical history files on all players
that are at all games, practices and off-ice training events
·
Be the decision maker on whether a player who is
injured in a game or practice is able to return to the play. THIS IS THE
TRAINER’S DECISION

Hockey Canada
·
Caring, Calm and Confident. A Good decision
maker who can adapt and make smart decisions quickly

Loves the game of Hockey
·
Comfortable in their knowledge and confident in
applying that knowledge
Qualifications
·
Mandatory: HTCP Level 1 certified (paid for by
the team)
·
First Aid Training
·
Working knowledge of the game of hockey and
associated injuries/requirements
·
Required online training (Respect In Sport,
Gender Identity)
·
Valid Police Check (paid for by the team)
