UPDATE - 2023-2024 Tryout Introduction BB/B
UPDATE!!!

Hello KMHA Hockey Families

The coaching staff for both the Red and Blue teams would like to welcome you to the 2023-2024 Kitchener Jr. Ranger U10 BB/B season tryouts starting on Monday May 8th, 2023.

My name is Luke Simon, I am the Head Coach for the Red Team for this coming season, and Alan Dyck is Head Coach for the Blue Team. We would like to share some information about the up coming tryouts as it can be a busy time of year with all the other tryouts going on including other sports.

The tryout schedule is posted and up to date on the website. Every player that has registered are guaranteed at least three (3) tryout ice times (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday), and split into two (2) groups. Group 1 will be on the ice the first ice time both Monday and Tuesday, and Group 2 will be on the ice the second ice time both Monday and Tuesday. Prior to the Intrasquad games on the Wednesday, the groups will be reorganized, and a posting to the team web page will be provided letting players know which time and team they will be on using the players tryout identification number (TIN).

The first set of releases will occur after Wednesday’s ice times and at the same time, you will be informed who will be playing in the exhibition game in Brantford on Thursday and intrasquad game on Friday, after which a team selection draft will occur and final releases made Friday evening May 12th, 2023. Note that players will be divided amongst the exhibition game on Thursday and intrasquad game on Friday, with an expectation that each player may not be playing each game. Games where players are sitting out the game are not required to attend, but is optional if they wish. A posting to the team web page letting players know which games they will be required to attend using the players tryout identification number (TIN) will go up.

Once the team selection draft has closed on Friday May 12th, players selected by the respective BB/B team will be contacted directly by that coach that night to let each player know they have been selected to play on either the Red or Blue team for the upcoming season. The coach will also provide additional information for the remaining games that each team has scheduled for the weekend (May 13 - 14).

Please do your best to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to ice times, with all equipment. Tryout jerseys will be provided for each ice time, which will be given out at a posted sign in table within lobby area of arena, along with what dressing room to use, with exception of away exhibition games which jerseys will given out in the dressing room. After each ice time, jerseys to be hung-up and left within the dressing room. Goalies may or may not have an assigned jersey, so please ensure you bring your own. It would also be a good idea for players to bring a back up jersey of your own just in case too.

Upon your first sign in at your first tryout ice time for BB/B, you will receive a slip with a Tryout Identification Number (TIN) that is private and unique to your player for these tryouts. Please keep this tryout identification number for the entire tryout process, and note that this number is a different number than the number provided during AAA, and AA/A tryouts. Tryout releases to be made by posting on the team website all the TIN’s that are successful moving on to the next tryout stage. All players whose TIN is not posted on either team website will have been released to house league and should expect further direction regarding their fall evaluations prior from KMHA at a later date.

After registration closes, information will be posted on the team website, informing which group your player is in for the Monday and Tuesday ice times.

I know as a parent, a coach and a past player that these tryouts can be very stressful, so let's calmly encourage our kids and most of all support them in having fun.

Thank you, and best of luck to all that will be trying out!

We are all excited and looking forward to the tryouts and upcoming season!
