National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Each year, September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Before their exhibition game on this special day the U12 Jr Rangers, Red and Blue, taped up their sticks in orange to help raise awareness around the intergenerational impacts of residential schools.

The colour orange comes from Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day that symbolizes the stripping away of culture, freedom, and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.

Prior to puck drop, players stood together in unity at center ice to recognize the day and all that it aims to achieve. Thank you players for demonstrating an understanding of the importance this issue continues to have in our community and for taking the opportunity to set aside the competitive nature of the game and show your support!
