Where There's Smokey There's Fire
Submitted By Jarid Peterson on Wednesday, October 19, 2011
The Kitchener Novice ‘A’ Lady Rangers have announced their team Captain for the 2011/2012 Season. Coach Cam made the announcement at the morning skate today. Smokey (Nicole) has been selected to lead her fellow Ladies into the upcoming regular season.

Although Coach Cam was not immediately available for comment one can only speculate on the young lady’s qualifications. Headed into her second year as a Novice Lady Ranger, Smokey brings not only on ice leadership but is certainly a voice in the locker room. Her fire and drive make her a force to be reckoned with, and her energy is infectious. Whether she is driving hard at the net or fighting hard on a back check, Smokey’s mental awareness and physical strength speak volumes of her Hockey Pedigree.

“Smokey really came into her own towards the end of last season” Replied General Manager Jarid Peterson in a phone interview from the Novice Offices. “She really stepped up her game; combine that with an off season of constant conditioning and character maturation, you really begin to see why this ball of charisma is destined for great things.”

Smokey will first wear her ‘C’ in an upcoming road game this Saturday in Burlington, followed the next day by a game in London (the very same city where her Father wore his).

Our most heartfelt congratulations go out to Smokey and the rest of the Novice Lady Rangers, leading this team of energetic and eager to learn young ladies is both an honor and a privilege, one that no doubt the Little Fireball will live up to.
