Jr. Rangers Force Game 6
On Saturday the Rangers and Burlington Bulldogs squared off in game 5
in a must win situation for the Rangers in Kitchener at Conestoga College.
The teams felt each other out for the 1st period at the Conestoga College ice surface, both teams defenses did a great job turning away any chances leading to a scoreless 1st period.
The Rangers hard work paid off in the 2nd period where they fed off the energy of the building and used their speed and effort to control the pace of the period. The Rangers capitalized mid-way through the period on the powerplay when #44 Nolan O’Kane (#14 Graham Jansen, #22 Matt Courchesne) took advantage of a screen and fired a slapshot in the net to put the Rangers up 1-0 after 2.
The Rangers came out with a jump in the third and within the first 5 minutes found themselves back on the man advantage. Captain #91 Chad Lacey (#16 Bobby Young, #14 Graham Jansen) capitalized with a backhand putting the Rangers up 2-0. The Rangers then turned the game over to goaltender #31 Brennan Hadad and he did not disappoint. Hadad shutdown every attempt thrown his way by the buzzing Bulldogs and the Rangers were victorious by a score of 2-0.
With the win on Saturday, the Kitchener ‘AA’ Bantam Jr. Rangers have forced a game 6 in the first to 6 points series with the Burlington Bulldogs. The game scheduled for Tuesday March 26 at 7:00PM in Burlington (Appleby 1) will decide the hard fought series.
